Hello. Very often, newbies ask how to install a particular engine on the site. In this article we will try to describe in general terms the sequence of actions for installing ANY engine. You can read articles on installing specific engines for hosting the links below:
For the rest of the engines, we wrote a general instruction. All stages are about the same for any CMS.
So, download the engine to your computer, and then proceed according to the instructions:
First, copy the files to the hosting. You can do this in several ways.
1) By FTP:
We configure ftp connection.
Unpack the archive engine on your computer. Go to the unpacked folder and copy all the scripts and folders in PUBLIC_HTML on FTP. This process may take some time.
2) Via file manager in CPANEL (faster method)
We go in CPANEL. Files section. File Manager Icon. Click. Select the root document directory for – The name of your domain. Click GO. A dispatcher window appears. Now it should be noted that the engine should be packed in zip or tar.gz. RAR archive is not suitable. If the engine is packed in RAR, unpack it on your computer and repack it in ZIP. In the file manager, click Download. In the window that appears, using the form, select the archive with the engine on the computer and upload it. After that, in the file manager, select the archive that appears and click the extract button. Everything is unpacked.
Is done. The only problem that may arise is that the engine was in the archive still in the folder. Then not many folders and scripts will appear in the file manager, but only one folder. If so, then go to this folder. Select “select all”, then click on the icon Move file and select the folder where to move (for example / public HTML). We press GO, and, voila, everything is transferred where we need.
Go to the next step.
Step 2. Creating a database.
Everything. We assume that the database is created. All data base remembers. Such as: database name, database username and password.
Step number 3
Installation Here you can help install the engine (should be attached to the engine), but most often you need to do the following.
Go to your website through the browser. (the domain should already be linked to the hosting, if the site does not open – wait until the domain is attached)
Suddenly, a 500 Internal Server Error may appear. (Although it appears infrequently)
We assume that there is no error 500.
A window should appear with the installation. (if not, read the installation instructions for the engine). Agree with all contracts, see if the requirements match. There may be one more thing. Some engines require special configuration of PHP directives.
Create your php.ini, as stated in this article, and enter the necessary values of PHP directives there.
It may also be necessary to write access to various files and folders. The rights to the default folders are 755, and they do not need to be changed to 777, the rights to 755 are enough for writing, and with the rights to 777 everything can stop working. Files have the same rights as the default 644, and if there are requirements to write to some files, change their rights also to 755 (not 777)
All, refresh the installation page. Everything should go further. If not – contact the support of our hosting – they will help you.
It remains the most simple. Follow the instructions in the installation scripts. We fill all forms as required, specify the database, the username and password to it (we created them in step 2), the database host is localhost. Further we enter various data, such as the name of the site, data of the future site administrator, and so on. We press further, further and to the end, we see a message about the successful installation, after which we delete the installation script via FTP or through the file manager.
We go to the site – congratulations, the engine is installed. Enjoy and rejoice.
I hope this article has helped you.
